Hall of May Calligraphy proudly plays a part in a reemergence of artisanal services and a renewed appreciation for craftsmanship. Contemporary interest in the handcrafted over the mass produced reflects a recognition of the value of creatives. Beautiful writing embraces the potential for art and beauty in the details of everyday life.
ABOUT MAMIE
After studying Art History at University and working in art galleries in Melbourne I went on maternity leave to have my daughter and made space to explore my own creativity. Calligraphy is the perfect combination of the things I am passionate about; the written word, visual art and family. I have always been drawn to the aesthetic qualities of this historical artform and as I refined my own skills I also fell in love with its ability to connect people. Calligraphy shines a light on the words that move us- even if they are the names of your friends and family on place cards on your wedding day. I have had the honour of penning wedding vows, love letters, poems and songs. Always, it is an expression of love, celebration and connection; the most important things.
The first time I was approached for calligraphy services I was so flattered and excited. Since then I have had the pleasure of working with countless clients, creating beautiful and unique artworks and one of a kind event stationery. I have also had the privilege of working with brands like Dior, Calvin Klein, Gucci and Bangn Body.
